Kelly McClure is the founder of the family law firm, McClure Law Group, serving clients in Dallas and throughout the country. With the knowledge and expertise gained from over 25 plus years of law experience, Kelly and her team of seasoned, high-octane attorneys work tirelessly to deliver creative and caring solutions for their clients, from stay-at-home parents to high-profile executives, professional athletes and celebrities.
Channeling her passion for family law, Kelly helps couples and families artfully navigate through the complex and often divisive channels of divorce, pre- and post-marital agreements and child custody issues. Given the sensitive and generally emotional nature of these types of cases, Kelly passionately strives to help couples smoothly and successfully resolve the issues that often plague complex divorces, ensuring a solution is tailored to meet the unique needs of each client. An avid proponent and leader of the Collaborative Law movement, Kelly works tirelessly with her clients to ensure collaboration without proceeding to court, resulting in the overall goals of reduced stress and financial burden. If, however, Collaborative Law is not an option and litigation is necessary, Kelly’s high-energy, tough, no-nonsense demeanor and dynamic presence make her a powerhouse in the courtroom.
When she first entered the legal field, Kelly began practicing tax law. While learning the ropes through the complicated maze of tax codes, rules and requirements, Kelly and her husband, attorney Wade McClure, began providing pro bono services for domestic violence cases. They were part of the development of Lawyers Against Domestic Violence, which advocated for changes in the law to protect victims of family violence. After this experience, Kelly was inspired by the rewarding work of helping others and decided to shift her practice to family law. With her background in tax law, Kelly offers another dimension to her exceptional client service, as she easily grasps the tax implications and complex property issues that often accompany high-profile family law cases.
Kelly has built an outstanding reputation and receives awards and accolades throughout Texas including: 2010 Top Female Attorney, D Magazine; 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2002 Best Family Lawyer, D Magazine; 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2003 Top 50 Female Texas, Super Lawyers, Thomson Reuters; 2006 Most Dynamic Women in Dallas, Modern Luxury Dallas Magazine; 1999 Merrill L. Hartman Award for Key Leadership Advocacy and Support for Legal Services for Victims of Domestic Violence, Dallas Bar Association and 1992 Outstanding Young Lawyer of Dallas Award, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers.
Kelly’s career-long memberships and affiliations include the Dallas Bar Association, where she serves as Director of the Family Law Section (1992–1997, 2000–2009). Additionally, Kelly is a member of the Family Law Section of the Collin County Bar Association, Dallas Association of Young Lawyers (Director, 1987–1988), State Bar of Texas Grievance Committee (1992–1996), Attorneys Serving the Community (1991–present), and the Junior League of Dallas.
Graduating with a bachelor’s degree from Fairfield University in 1981, Kelly continued on studying at Oxford University in England in their summer legal program and earned her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1984. She was admitted to the Texas Bar in 1984 and is licensed to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
In her personal life, Kelly spends her off hours with her husband and their four sons, leading an active lifestyle and continually striving to achieve new challenges. Never turning away from an arduous obstacle, Kelly recently completed the San Francisco Alcatraz Triathlon Relay, which included her swimming 1.5 miles in shark-infested waters. Additionally, in her spare time this summer, she and her two oldest sons completed the famous Boy Scout Philmont trek where, generally, a mom is a rare sight on the trail. In addition, Kelly is an avid snowboarder, skier, surfer and scuba diver. New challenges thrill Kelly and help her strive to be the best, whether at home or in business.
When not seeking adventure, Kelly’s compassion shines through as she is an enthusiastic and dedicated volunteer in the greater Dallas community, holding active leadership roles in her sons’ schools and her family’s church. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Alumni of Fairfield College and participates in missions serving Central and South America.
