Fam. Code Ann. \u00a7 102.004(a)(1).\u00a0 A sister <a href=\"https:\/\/cases.justia.com\/texas\/thirteenth-court-of-appeals\/2022-13-21-00013-cv.pdf?ts=1652964312\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently<\/a> sought custody of her siblings, asserting standing under \u00a7 102.004(a)(1).<\/p>\n<h3>Children&#8217;s Sister Seeks Custody After Mother&#8217;s Death<\/h3>\n<p>According to the appeals court\u2019s opinion, the adult sister filed suit seeking to be named the sole managing conservator of her minor siblings a few weeks after her mother\u2019s death.\u00a0 She claimed she had standing to bring the suit because she was their sister and had \u201ca close and substantial relationship with the children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The father asked the court to dismiss the case for lack of standing.\u00a0 The sister amended her suit to claim standing pursuant to Tex. Fam.
