Fam. Code \u00a7 2.401.\u00a0 Although informal marriages are generally treated the same as formal marriages, the existence of an informal marriage can be far more difficult to prove.<\/p>\n<h3>Man Files for Divorce from Partner &#8211; No Marriage Found to Exist<\/h3>\n<p>A man, E.L., <a href=\"https:\/\/cases.justia.com\/texas\/fourteenth-court-of-appeals\/2022-14-19-00624-cv.pdf?ts=1647422571\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recently challenged<\/a> a jury\u2019s finding that he and his long-term same-sex partner, J.M., were not in an informal marriage.
