The Texas Supreme Court identified several factors courts should consider in <em>Murff v. Murff<\/em>. These factors include the parties\u2019 physical conditions, education, financial condition, abilities, and ages.\u00a0\u00a0 A husband recently <a href=\"https:\/\/cases.justia.com\/texas\/fourteenth-court-of-appeals\/2021-14-19-00705-cv.pdf?ts=1616674988\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">challenged<\/a> a trial court\u2019s division of the marital property following a mediated settlement agreement between the parties.<\/p>\n<p>The parties married in 1999 and the wife initiated divorce proceedings in 2017.\u00a0 Pursuant to a temporary order, the marital home was sold and about $500,000 in sales proceeds were put into an escrow account.\u00a0 The court signed an agreed order allowing disbursement of an equal portion of the proceeds to pay each party\u2019s divorce attorneys.\u00a0 The rest of the proceeds was left in the escrow account.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcclure-lawgroup.com\/blog\/equitable-property-distribution-in-texas-divorce\/#more-2033\" class=\"more-link\">Continue Reading \u203a<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In a Texas divorce, the court must divide the property in a just and right manner.\u00a0 The requirement is that the division be equitable, but not necessarily equal.
