{"id":157,"date":"2015-06-04T10:04:51","date_gmt":"2015-06-04T15:04:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.texasdivorceattorneyblog.com\/?p=157"},"modified":"2015-06-04T10:04:51","modified_gmt":"2015-06-04T15:04:51","slug":"recent-updates-from-the-texas-legislature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mcclure-lawgroup.com\/blog\/recent-updates-from-the-texas-legislature\/","title":{"rendered":"RECENT UPDATES FROM THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last month was an exciting one\u00a0for Texas family law attorneys.\u00a0 During this year\u2019s legislative session, our friendly representatives down in Austin had their hands full with a number of new bills that sought to alter significant portions of the family law landscape.<\/p>\n<p>There were three bills that passed their way through a House committee but ultimately were voted down after strenuous lobbying by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texasfamilylawfoundation.com\/TFL\/\">Texas Family Law Foundation<\/a>.\u00a0 The first bill that was voted down was HB 4093, which sought to repeal section 6.001 of the Texas Family Code.\u00a0 Section 6.001 provides that \u201cthe court may grant a divorce without regard to fault if the marriage has become insupportable because of discord or conflict of personalities that destroys the legitimate ends of the marital relationship and prevents any reasonable expectation of reconciliation.\u201d\u00a0 Had HB 4093 passed and been signed by Governor Abbott, parties seeking divorce would have to prove another valid ground for divorce, including adultery, cruelty, living apart, or abandonment.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcclure-lawgroup.com\/blog\/recent-updates-from-the-texas-legislature\/#more-157\" class=\"more-link\">Continue Reading \u203a<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last month was an exciting one\u00a0for Texas family law attorneys.\u00a0 During this year\u2019s legislative session, our friendly representatives down in Austin had their hands full with a number of new bills that sought to alter significant portions of the family law landscape.
